Kinetic Academy has been featured in the news recently as a result of the hard work of our 3rd grade teachers and students. Our two 3rd grade classes were selected to be part of the First Flight Program, where all 44 students participated in building a better hockey puck for the Anaheim Ducks. The activity culminated with a field trip to the Honda Center and our students won the final prize of a 3D printer for our school. Ms. Covarrubias and Mrs. Downey took this project to the next level by creating their second trimester Project Based Learning Unit around it. One of our 3rd grade students, Eddie Solomon, was selected to test out the puck, that his group designed, on the ice the day of the First Flight field trip.
The video features an interview with Ms. Covarrubias and one of our 3rd graders, Tanner Nehrig, and the article highlights an interview with Ms. Downey along with a picture of some of our students experimenting with their puck design.
We are so proud of the work that our teachers put in to make this project come to life for our students. Thank you Ms. C and Mrs. Downey, and great job to all of our 3rd grade students!
