Things are moving fast at your school. Many of you have just begun your summer... but for us the countdown to the first day of school has begun. 72 days to be exact! There have been lots of updates since our last general communication. Here is a quick hit list in case you missed it.
The initial enrollment period has ended. All 386 grade eligible pre-enrollment requests were sent official enrollment packages and allowed time to respond. 70% have responded but we still have 30% that have not. Beginning today, all enrollment packages will be accepted on a first come, first served basis to fill the remaining slots. We have limited space available in all grades K-5 and we receive new applications daily. We continue to be amazed at how many people call us stating they JUST found out about our school.
We have opened a 5th grade class due to strong interest. Spread the word!
We have scheduled two more information nights, July 13th & 19th, to coincide with the outreach efforts that have intensified this month. Both will take place on our school campus. Details can be found on our new events calendar.
We have been formally notified by the California Department of Education that we have been awarded the PCSGP grant in the amount of $575,000. This will help us cover most of our start-up costs including purchasing classroom furniture, 1:1 technology for every student, significant professional development for our teachers in Project Based Learning and STEAM, as well as certain equipment and supplies.
Our 501c3 status has been granted by the IRS and we have set up a fundraising page. Please consider donating and share with family and friends. Every bit counts in getting our school off to a strong start.
We have started moving into the Utica site and scheduled both professional and volunteer crews to begin the clean-up and set up of the facility.
We have scheduled a Campus Clean-up Day for this Saturday, June 25th 8am-12pm. All are welcome to help us weed and clean the site and meet some new friends.
We are excited to announce that the El Dorado County SELPA has accepted Kinetic Academy into their program. We are beyond thrilled to have been accepted by such a well-respected and successful organization to serve the specific needs of our special education students.
Choice Lunch has been selected as our school lunch vendor. Take a moment to read about the delicious options your kids will have each day.
In addition, the first before/afterschool care option has been published to our website under the Resources menu. We expect to have three options in total and will update this section throughout the summer.
We continue to interview for the positions of classroom teachers, office manager, special education coordinator, and other support positions.
We have scheduled an extended Project Based Learning workshop for our teachers with Buck Institute for Education to take place in August. From that session, our teachers will have at least their first full project to begin the year. Buck Institute will come back to our campus three other times through the course of the year to support our teachers implementing this fundamental component of our curriculum
As you can see there is much going on and we appreciate your responsiveness and support.
