Earlier this year we posted a picture of Chairman Jeff Ball in Sacramento to deliver our application for the Public Charter Schools Grant Program. We are very excited to be able to announce that Kinetic Academy has been selected as a recipient for this grant.
The PCSGP is a start up grant for charter schools that is intended to help them get off the ground and be successful. The grant will go towards a large portion of our start up costs.
At the top of our purchasing list: 1. Furniture. From everything to student desks to book cases and file cabinets. We need it all. 2. 1 to 1 technology for students and teachers including our infrastructure as well as digital licensing. 3. Project Based Learning Professional Development for our teachers through Buck Institute as well as other professional development and training opportunities. 4. Curriculum. Math, reading, writing, science & social studies materials that will align with the Common Core State Standards and support our student learning.
As a new school, these are all costs that we will incur & fairly soon. There are rules and regulations that pertain to what we can use the money for. We have spent a great deal of time working on a budget that will allow us to purchase not only what we need, but also many things that we want in order to create a strong educational program for our students.
We are incredibly grateful to be a recipient of this grant.
