News, news and more news!
April 9, 2016

Hello Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. Our team made progress in a number of areas that we are very excited to share with you. Additionally, we’d like to remind you that we have two information sessions scheduled for next week. Wednesday April 13th at 6:30pm and Saturday April 23rd at 10:00am. Both sessions will be held at Community United Methodist Church 6652 Heil Ave, Huntington Beach. Read on for more!
Grant
We have been eagerly awaiting the results of the grant application and last evening we received a letter from the California Department of Education indicating that we have met their scoring criteria and will now move forward in the review process to determine if we are eligible for funding. This is wonderful news that we get to move to the next phase which is the budget review. We will keep you posted as we progress through the process. We remain very hopeful! You can see the letter under News.
Pre-Enrollment
Our pre-enrollment period closed April 1st. We continue to accept pre-enrollment forms and they will be processed in the order received. Official enrollment process details will come in early May.
Outreach
You may have seen flyers, in both English and Spanish, popping up in various locations around Huntington Beach advertising Kinetic Academy and our upcoming info sessions. If you would like to put flyers in your pre-school, church, or favorite local hang-out, you can find the flyer under News. Or email us at info@kineticacademy.org and let us know where you’d like to see flyers. We welcome your help in spreading the news.
Partnerships
As a first year school, it is important that we surround ourselves with passionate and talented people. To that end, we have partnered with the following providers to support our vision.
Northstate Charter JPA
Kinetic Academy’s goal is that all students be nurtured to reach their fullest potential. Significant experience and expertise is necessary to help fulfill this goal. Therefore, Kinetic Academy has contracted with the Northstate Charter JPA for special education assistance in oversight, professional development, compliance and staffing assistance. Jean Hatch is the Co- Founder / Co-Director of Redding School of the Arts (RSA) and the founder of the first Special Education Consortium in the state of California (currently the North State Charter JPA.) She has been directing both these entities for the past 15 years. The North State Charter JPA will oversee our special education program, provide in-service to all staff, set up policies and procedures surrounding special education and Child Find, and will assist Kinetic in becoming a member of the El Dorado County Charter SELPA. Their head school psychologist (with over 20 years of experience) and head Resource Specialist will be working directly with the staff at Kinetic Academy to be sure we are in compliance, set up a successful Student Success Team process (SST), and to see that high quality special education services are provided at Kinetic Academy Charter School. We are thrilled to be partnering with Jean and her team.
LAW OFFICES OF YOUNG, MINNEY & CORR LLP
YM&C is California’s most experienced, knowledgeable, and respected firm working in the unique area of charter school law. As a leader in charter school representation since the passage of California’s Charter Schools Act of 1992, they represent more than half of the charter schools in the state, offering expertise in every facet of charter school creation, expansion, and operation.
Charter Schools Management Company (CSMC)
CSMC is the largest provider of back office financial, operational and data services to charter schools in the state, serving more than 100 schools across several dozen counties. CSMC is committed to empowering charter schools and their leaders to create and lead successful, innovative charter schools. Over the years, CSMC has developed a deep background in charter development, strategic planning, bookkeeping, budgeting, facilities financing, governance, operations, and data management for charter schools. We have been partnered with CSMC since early this year and we are very excited to continue with them into the next phase of our school development.
School Site
The most frequently asked question we get is “where will you be located”. We continue to negotiate for our school site and we expect to be able to share more firm details during our information sessions this week. We understand that this is a key factor for many families in selecting a school for their child. We will of course communicate as soon as we have information to share.
