Waves of Kindness
Kinetic Academy was founded with the understanding that the education of our students extends beyond their academic studies. Coupled with our strong belief that a student learns best by doing, community service is an element of our program that we treat with importance.
100% of our students will participate in a service to their community
Each student will dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per school year to serving their community
Waves of Kindness Program
Our Community Service Program is designed to expose our students to the needs of others and how
best to serve those needs with generosity of spirit and a sincere willingness to participate in the
improvement of our social, cultural, economic and ecological environment.
We want our students to get credit for all the hours and organizations they help. Although we
will occasionally have opportunities during school, this program is one to be completed primarily
outside of school hours. Here is how it works:
CHOOSE an eligible organization A list of pre-approved events and organizations will be consistently added to the school website below. If an event is not listed but meets one of the following guidelines AND you are able to have an authorized representative of the organization sign the timesheet, then no additional approval is needed provided the event does not require the student or parent to handle cash.
PRINT and PARTICIPATE in the activity. You can fill out and print a time-sheet by using this link. Take the printed form with you when you perform your service. A representative from the organization you are helping must be able to sign off on your time-sheet. Remember, you are representing Kinetic Academy while performing your community service. Show pride in your school and act according to our WAVES values.
SUBMIT your time-sheet. Once you have completed your service and have a signed timesheet, you can turn it into your teacher, the office or it can be scanned and emailed to our program email.
PROPOSE a Community Service Idea. Have an idea? Use this Proposal Form to submit for approval.
Guidelines for choosing an organization or activity.
Please follow these guidelines:
Time spent supporting a 501©3 non-profit
Time spent supporting for-profit company if that company provides services to the community and involves volunteers, such as a for-profit hospital, a for-profit hospice or a for-profit retirement community
Time spent volunteering with a government agency, such as a state park or a national park
We want to encourage creativity and ideas if a student is inspired by a cause. So if there is something you feel is a worthy cause and in the spirit of community service, please email us to obtain approval. An example might be that the student wants to help patients of a local hospital by creating care packages for their recovery. These ideas are to be encouraged and celebrated! When seeking approval, the student must state the organization, service they are going to provide, dates, applicable website, and whether or not we could open this opportunity to fellow students. The principal will have the final approval.
